Our venue

Rest environment matters.

Living in Scotland for nearly 18 years now I thought I knew how special it was. But it wasn’t until I first arrived at the West Coast that I realised just how magical this land truly is.

Old Kilmun House holds a special place in my heart. Created by wonderful friends, it has been the backdrop for many birthdays, weddings, and countless joyful visits with friends as well as my yoga groups. Here, you will feel at home and one with nature.

Waterside views over Holy Loch our house is surrounded by incredible walks, most notably Pucks Glen, Kilmun Arboretum and Benmore Botanic Gardens, all of which are accessible by foot. House itself has been lovingly restored to the highest standard yet keeping it’s soul. There’s also an on site hot tub and sauna, and a yoga yurt featuring a wood burning stove - perfect for these cosy yoga practices.

The range of luxurious accommodation consists of beautiful double, twin and triple rooms for couples, friends and those who plan on arriving solo. Shared bathrooms. Venue is located about 2.5 hour drive from Edinburgh and a scenic 20-minute ferry ride across the loch. Also accessible by train.

Agenda

Yoga, rest & digest

4 days of stretching time and creating space for connection, rest and yoga. Immersing yourself in deeply nourishing meals and accessible practices such as Yin, Yoga Nidra & Restorative Yoga. Creating more space for true rest & digest to down regulate your nervous system and give you a space to release stress and tension you might be carrying. Shared meals and time together as well as enough free time to relax, nap, read and embrace the surroundings of nature. Everything is a choice. There is no pressure to take part in activities if you don’t feel like it. This is your time to rest and slow down.

3 beautiful vegetarian ( option for vegan) meals per day & dessert of course freshly prepared for you by an amazing chef Dominika.  Option to sleep in or do yoga, explore beautiful local walks. Yoga Practices are designed to bring softness and space to the body and help to quiet down the mind. Environment that doesn’t pressure you into any shapes but leaves you enough space for curiosity to explore the needs of your body. Beautiful way to deepen or start your practice as there’s no pressure of time. Gentle Yin in the mornings and Relaxing Restorative and Yoga Nidra sessions in the afternoons or evenings… Additionally deeply relaxing sound bath session.

memories from previous retreats

  • - Anna

I was initially hesitant to attend rest yoga retreat alone, but I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. From the start, the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere put me at ease. Paula’s approach was refreshing, offering space for everyone to move at their own pace with plenty of options for all levels. There was no pressure - just encouragement to rest deeply and listen to your body. Balance of quiet reflection and connection with other participants was perfect. The insights from these conversations were as valuable as the rest itself. Retreat not only left me feeling more rested than I have in ages but also reminded me of the true essence of yoga: mindfulness, connection, and self - care. Best thing I did for myself in years.

Permission to Rest retreat with Paula was, without a doubt, one of my top highlights of 2024! It felt like time really slowed down.Thoughtfully curated schedule, every detail was designed to create the perfect cocoon for rest. We were all met and welcomed with such softness, care, and intention which rippled through the group and the retreat…whatever you needed or however you were feeling was truly welcomed. Even though we were only away for a few days, it felt like so much longer, in the best way. I left feeling nurtured, inspired and so grateful to have met so many wonderful people. I can’t wait to join the next one!

Paula’s Rest Retreat provided a wonderful opportunity for me to relax & rejuvenate. Careful attention to every detail ensured that the group had everything we could possibly need, from delicious meals to exceptional accommodation, and everything in between!

Thoughtfully designed schedule and tailored to our need for rest, allowing us plenty of personal time to relax throughout the day. The retreat was peaceful, picturesque, and absolute bliss. I had a truly enriching experience learning the value of rest and will certainly be booking future retreats with Paula.
