When the body asks for rest - it’s never out of spite

Monthly deep rest sessions in Edinburgh

These sessions emerged from my own struggles with exhaustion. Life felt overwhelming - I was burnt out, tense, and constantly chasing quick fixes for stress. The solution, however, was simpler and more accessible than I imagined: I needed to learn how to rest.

I’ve been guiding these practices both in person and online since 2020. Together, we’ll explore stillness, gentle yoga poses supported by props like blankets and bolsters, and breathing techniques to regulate your nervous system. The practice is accessible to everyone, with no complicated poses, and the environment that is welcoming and free of any pressure to look or feel any certain way.

No prior yoga experience is needed. Come as you are, ready to rest.

Being chronically tired is not a way to live. Chronic stress and tension can affect your energy levels, concentration, immunity and even the general satisfaction from life. Living in prolonged tension and stress can lead to gut problems, skin issues, migraines and even mental health issues. Stress can affect your relationships, memory and creativity. Too many of us know what stress can do to our bodies. Constant urgency, rush and pressure leaves very little space for life and conscious choices. How often do you reach for what’s available rather for what you actually need?
Time to change that.

Too many of us live in constant state of stress & tension from daily pace of life. I know the feeling as I was there myself.

What to expect during these sessions

My approach & what’s important to me as your teacher.

Using a blend of Mindfulness, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra, these 90 minute sessions provide a dedicated space to prioritise rest. With an inclusive, trauma - informed approach, the practice is designed to help your body and mind recover without urgency. We focus on building a connection with your body becoming attuned to its needs and adjusting poses to suit your unique experience, rather than striving for a specific appearance. By working with the felt sense and nervous system, your body can gradually learn it’s safe to release tension and truly let go.

As a neurodivergent person, I understand that relaxation looks different for everyone and how aspects of a typical studio class can sometimes feel overstimulating. My goal is to create a welcoming, calm space where you can unwind at your own pace. No prior yoga experience is needed, and you’re always welcome to reach out with questions.

Here’s what to expect during the in person sessions:

  • Gentle music will play softly in the background.

  • The space is incense and candle free.

  • Lighting will be dimmed to create a calming atmosphere.

  • Hands on adjustments are only offered with prior permission.

  • The sequence will be simple, with support of yoga props to ensure accessibility

  • Class will include longer holds and peaceful moments of silence to help you deeply relax and restore, that doesn’t mean you will have to remain completely still in poses

  • Changing rooms and toilets are available in the studio.
